  • One cause of poverty in India is the unequal distribution of land and other resources . For example, many farmers do not own enough land to cultivate or have to pay high rent to landlords.

 

  • Another cause of poverty in India is the low productivity and growth of the agricultural sector. For example, many farmers face problems such as lack of irrigation, seeds, fertilizers, credit, etc.

 

  • A third cause of poverty in India is the high population growth and dependency ratio . For example, many families have more children than they can afford to feed, educate, and provide health care.
