What is irrigation? Describe two methods of irrigation which conserve water:

Answer

Supply of Water to plants at regular intervals is called irrigation

Two methods of irrigation which conserve water are :

  1. Sprinkler system
This system is more useful on uneven land where water supply is less. In this method, there is a pump, different perpendicular pipes and nozzle
When pump is opened, water sprinkles out from different nozzles. It gets sprinkIed on the crop as if it is raining. Sprinkler is very useful for lawns, coffee plantation and several other crops.
  1. Drip system
In this system, the water falls drop by drop directly near the roots. So it is called drip system. It is the best technique for watering fruit plants, gardens and trees. Water is not wasted at all. It is a boon in regions where availability of water is poor.
