  • The constitution of India has provided various safeguards against inequality and discrimination based on the principles of equality, justice, and dignity of all citizens.
  • Some of these safeguards are
    •   Right to equality before the law and equal protection of laws, 
    • Prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, 
    • Abolition of untouchability and titles, reservation of seats for backward classes and minorities in public employment and education,
    • Freedom of religion and conscience, 
    • Cultural and educational rights of minorities, and
    • Right to constitutional remedies for enforcement of fundamental rights.
