Class 6
Chapter 9 Class 6 - The Living Organisms - Characterstics and Habitats

Explain, why speed is important for survival in the grasslands for animals that live there.

Answer:

In the grassland habitat, there are few trees or places for animals to hide. Therefore, if any animal attacks then they have to run fast in order to save their life.

Speed is crucial for survival in the grasslands for animals that stay there because:

  1. There are few trees in the grassland that can shield animals from predators like lions and tigers.
  2. In the tiniest grass, predators can easily discover their prey.
  3. As a result, these animals must move fast to a secure spot.
  4. Deer and zebras, for example, are constructed to run quickly to keep away from predators.
