They are substances which are broken down into simpler substances in nature in due  course of time by the biological processes   such as action of microorganisms. 

Example: Domestic waste, Paper, etc

They are substances which cannot be broken down into simpler substances in nature.  These substances may  be in solid, liquid or gaseous form and may be inert and accumulate in the environment.  

Example: Metal cans, plastic bags, etc.

 

Methods of disposal of non–biodegradable waste are: 

  • Recycling of non-biodegradable waste.
  • Reusing non-biodegradable substances.
  • Incineration of non-biodegradable wastes.
