Question 8 Find the area bounded by 𝑦 = 𝑥2, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑥−axis and the lines 𝑥 = −1 and 𝑥 = 1. Since Curve is symmetric around y-axis ∴ Required Area = 2 × Area OAB = 2 × ∫1_0^1▒𝑦𝑑𝑥 = 2 × ∫1_0^1▒〖𝑥^2 𝑑𝑥〗 = 2 × [𝑥^3/3]_0^1 = 2 ×[1^3/3−0^3/3] = 𝟐/𝟑 square units
