What are polyatomic ions? Give examples.

 

Answer

The words,

'Poly’ means many

‘Atomic’ means atoms 

‘Ion’ means atom carrying charge

 

Therefore,

A group of atoms containing charge is called polyatomic ion

Example :  NH 4 + ,OH - ,NO 3 -
