What is the difference between endocrine and exocrine glands?

ENDOCRINE GLANDS

EXOCRINE GLANDS

They secrete hormones directly into blood

(to reach a particular body part which is called target site)

They secrete substances into duct or a tube. These substances are not hormones

Example

Pituitary gland

Thyroid Glands

Example

Salivary gland produces saliva

This saliva does not mix with blood

It is stored in salivary duct
