I am a student of class 10 learning chapter 14 recently. In exercise 14.1 , Ques no.2 , i recently got a doubt that why we haven't used direct method in the answer as it is easy and will be appropriate here..

We use the shortcut method to make our calculations easy.
Also, in shortcut method, it is easier to find calculation mistakes.
It depends on you which method to use, just don't make calculation mistakes.
