Example 16 Divide z (5𝑧^2 – 80) by 5z (z + 4) We first factorise z(〖5𝑧〗^2− 80) = z(〖5𝑧〗^2− (16 × 5)) Taking 5 common, = z × 5 (𝑧^2− 16) = 5z (𝑧^2 − 4^2) Using 𝑎^2 − 𝑏^2 = (a + b) (a − b) Here 𝑎= z and b = 4 = 5z (z + 4) (z − 4) Dividing (𝑧 (5𝑧^2 − 80))/(5𝑧 (𝑧 + 4)) = (5𝑧 (𝑧 + 4) (𝑧 − 4))/(5𝑧 (𝑧 + 4)) = 5𝑧/5𝑧 × ((𝑧 + 4))/((𝑧 + 4)) × (z − 4) = 1 × 1 × (z − 4) = (z − 4)
