Ex 6.3, 2 (i) Find the values of the unknowns x and y in the following diagrams: In ∆ABC, ∠A = x ∠B = 50° ∠ACB = y ∠ACD = 120° We know that, Exterior angle is sum of interior opposite angles ∠ACD = ∠A + ∠B 120° = x + 50° 120° − 50° = x 70° = x x = 70° We know that, Sum of angles of a triangle is 180° ∠A + ∠B + ∠ACD = 180° x + 50° + y = 180° 70° + 50° + y = 180° 120° + y = 180 ° y = 180° − 120° y = 60 ° Thus, x = 70° , y = 60°
