Addition of decimals

To add decimals,

First we convert them into fractions

and

then we convert the final fraction into decimal

Let’s take an example

Add 0.08 + 9.831 + 0.8956

0.08 + 9.831 + 0.8956

= 008/100 + 9831/1000 + 08956/10000

= 8/100 + 9831/1000 + 8956/10000

= 8/100 × 100/100 + 9831/1000 × 10/10 + 8956/10000

= 800/10000 + 98310/10000 + 8956/10000

= (800 + 98310 + 8956)/10000

= (98310 + 8956 + 800)/10000

= 108066/10000

= 10.8066

Add 49.59 + 53. 481 + 1000.003

49.59 + 53.481 + 1000.003

= 4959/100 + 53481/1000 + 1000003/1000

= (4959)/100 × 10/10 + 53481/1000 + 1000003/1000

= (49590)/1000 + 53481/1000 + 1000003/1000

= (49590 + 53481 + 1000003)/1000

= (1000003 + 49590 + 53481)/1000

= 1103074/1000

= 1103.074
