Distributivity means
a × (b + c) = ab + bc
a × (b − c) = ab − bc
Example:
2 × (5 + 7)
= 2 × 5 + 2 × 7
= 10 + 14
= 24
2 × (5 − 7)
= 2 × 5 − 2 × 7
= 10 − 14
= −4
2/3 × (5/6 - 9/6)
= (2/3 × 5/6) - (2/3 × 9/6)
= ((2 × 5)/(3 × 6)) - ((2 × 9)/(3 × 6))
= 10/18 - 18/18
= (10 - 18)/18
= (-8)/18
= (-4)/9
2 × (9/8 + 4/8)
= (2 × 9/8) + (2 × 4/8)
= 9/4 + 4/4
= (9 + 4)/4
= 13/4
