Ex 11.2, 1 Find the distance between the following pairs of points: (i) (2, 3, 5) and (4, 3, 1) Let P be (2, 3, 5) and Q be (4, 3, 1) Distance PQ = √((x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2+(z2 −z1)2) Here, x1 = 2, y1 = 3, z1 = 5 x2 = 4, y2 = 3, z2 = 1 PQ = √((4−2)2+(3−3)2+(1 −5)2) = √(22+02+(−4)2) = √(4+0+16) = √20 = √(2 ×2 ×5) = 2√5 Thus, the required distance is 2√5 units
