INTRODUCTION

  • Democracy is a form of government in which the p eople have the authority to deliberate and decide legislation or to choose governing officials to do so.

  • Democracy contrast with forms of government where power is either held by an individual, autocratic systems like absolute monarchy, or where power is either held by small number of individuals.

  • One should know how to assess the outcomes of democracy and then proceed to look at the expected and actual outcomes of democracy in various respects: quality of government, economic well-being, inequality, social differences and conflict and finally freedom and dignity.
