  1. Reduced the number of cattle in their herds .
  2. When pasturelands in one place were closed to them, they changed the direction of their movement.
  3. Rich pastoralists gave up nomadic life and settled.
  4. Some became peasants and others became traders.
  5. Poor pastoralists borrowed money from moneylenders to survive.
  6. Some became labourers, working in fields or small towns.

  1. Some reduced the number of cattle in their herds.
  2. When they lost access to one pasture land they changed the direction of their movement and starts looking for new pasture land . For Example, Raikas , lost access to the Indus Valley region due to the border of India and Pakistan, after 1947 . So they changed direction and starts moving to Haryana .
  3. Richer pastoralists gave up their nomadic life and started buying land and settling down .
  4. Some became settled peasants cultivating land , and others took to more extensive trading .
  5. On the other hand, poor pastoralists , borrowed money from moneylenders to survive .
  6. At times they lost their cattle and sheep and became labourers , working in fields or small towns .
