Define a ‘Geosyncline’. What is the result of the  upliftment of the sediments in the geosyncline?

  1. A geosyncline is a large-scale depression in the Earth’s crust containing very thick deposits.
  2.  A narrow, shallow, elongated basin with a  sinking bottom in which a considerable thickness  of sediments was deposited by the river coming  from Angaraland and Gondwana land is called a  ‘Geosyncline’. 
  3.  T he Himalayas were formed as a result of the  upliftment and folding of the sediments in the  Tethys Sea.
