d) Democracies are more prosperous than others.

Answer :

So, the correct answer is (d).

  • Statement a - People feel free and equal in democracy.  This a good argument in favour of democracy as in a democratic country people are treated equally without being discriminated on the basis of gender, caste, sex or race and they are allowed to express themselves.
  • Statement b- Democracies resolve conflicts in a better way then others. This a good argument in favour of democracy as in a democratic country people are allowed to make mistakes.
  • Statement c- Democratic government is more accountable to the people. This a good argument in favour of democracy as there is transparency in democratic country.
  • Statement d - Democracies are more prosperous than others is not a good argument in favor of democracy as there are examples of countries being democratic but not as prosperous as other countries which are not democratic. Citizen of a democratic country vote for their leaders and participate in decision making process. Prosperity is not necessarily guaranteed since other factors include geography, economic capacity , government policies, human resources, minerals and more.
