• The French Society in the Old Regime was divided into three estates . The first and second estates, the nobles and the clergy had certain privileges by birth and not paying taxes to the state was the most important one. The third estate consisted of big businessmen , peasants , labours , and servants.
• The third estate were the ones that benefitted the most from the revolution because now they would be treated more equally and everyone had to pay taxes .
• The nobles and the clergy of the first and second estates were forced to give up all their privileges including the exemption from paying taxes .
• The first and second estates were the ones that would have been disappointed with the outcome of the revolution because they had to give up all their privileges and were now treated equally as the third estate.
