  3. Literate people in Kerala also have high earning capacity so they can afford basic necessities for their children.
  4. It shows Kerala has the adequate provision of basic health and education facilities, availability of a clean environment , and a strong PDS system .
  5. It, therefore, indicates a high level of human development in Kerala compared to Haryana, in spite of a lower per capita income.

Comparative Analysis of Countries

India and Sri Lanka

  1. The per capita income of Sri Lanka is higher than that of India. The per capita income of India is about $6681 , whereas it is around $12,207 for Sri Lanka.
  2. Life expectancy at birth in Sri Lanka is also higher as compared to India. The figures are 77 and 69.7 respectively.
  3. Literacy rate in Sri Lanka is also higher at 10.6 whereas it stands at 6.5 in India.
