(b) Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).

(c) (A) is correct but (R) is wrong.

(d) (A) is wrong but (R) is correct.

Assertion (A): Foreign goods were boycotted, liquor shops picketed, and foreign cloth burnt in huge bonfires.

Reason (R): Students and teachers began trickling back to government schools and lawyers joined back work in government courts.

Answer:

Foreign goods were boycotted ,  liquor shops picketed , and foreign cloth burnt in  huge bonfires. Boycott of British institutions posed a problem. Alternative Indian institutions had to be set up so that they could be used in place of the British ones , for the movement to be successful. Students and teachers began trickling back to the government schools and lawyers joined back work in government courts .

Therefore,

  • Foreign goods were boycotted liquor shops picketed , and foreign cloth burnt in  huge bonfires .
  • Students and teachers began trickling  back to government schools and lawyers joined  back work in government courts .

Thus,

  • Assertion is true .
  • Reason is false
  • And, reasoning is the incorrect explanation of assertion.

So, the correct answer is (c).
