During winters we wear clothes made of materials that are poor conductors of heat.

- Warm air trapped between the insulator fibres is not able to escape into the surroundings.
- This prevents the flow of heat from our bodies out into the environment and hence keeps us warm.
Air trapped in the space between two layers of clothes is better than in a single thick layer of clothing .
Hence, wearing layers of clothes keeps us warmer in the winter.
