- Cows and Buffaloes quickly swallow their leafy food and store it in their Rumen .
- The food gets partially digested in the rumen and is called Cud .
- When the cow is resting, the cud from rumen is brought back to the mouth of the cow in small amounts.
- Cow now chews the cud thoroughly.
- Thus we see cows chewing continuously even when they are not eating grass.
