How does our body respond when adrenaline is secreted into the blood?
Answer
Adrenaline is released by the adrenal glands into the blood when the body is in a stressful situation .
The following processes are carried out once adrenaline is released.
- Heart beats faster , resulting in supply of more oxygen to our muscles
- Blood to the digestive system and skin is reduced due to contraction of muscles around small arteries in these organs
- This diverts blood to our skeletal muscles
- The breathing rate increases because of the contractions of the diaphragm and the rib muscles.
All of this leads to fight or flight response.
