State briefly the changes that take place in a fertilized egg till birth of the child in the human female reproductive system. What happens to the egg when it is not fertilized?

Changes that take place in a fertilised egg till birth of the child are:

 If the egg is not fertilised, then the thick and spongy uterus lining is not required. So, this breaks down and comes through the vagina as blood and mucus ie., menstruation occurs.
