(a) Budding, fragmentation and regeneration, all are considered as asexual mode of reproduction. Why?

(b) With the help of neat diagram, explain the process of regeneration in Planaria.

Answer:

(a) In asexual reproduction,

  • certain body cells of a single parent organism undergo cell division to form two or more new organisms .
  • The new organism formed is genetically similar to the parent organism.

Budding, fragmentation and regeneration are considered as asexual modes of reproduction since they undergo reproduction in the same manner mentioned above.
