Mention the functions of (a) placenta, (b) fallopian tube in the human female reproductive system.

 

Answer:

(a) Placenta  

  • Transportation of oxygen and nutrients from the mother to the embryo.
  • Removal of waste generated by the embryo by transporting it to the mother’s blood.

(b) Fallopian tube

  • The egg released by an ovary is transported to the uterus through the fallopian tube.
  • Fertilisation of an egg by a sperm takes place here.
