It is an activity involving mental or physical work
It is done to obtain a purpose or goal
Is work always done for money ?
No, work may be Paid or Unpaid
Example - Household work is not done for money, so it is unpaid work
Office work is done for money, so it is paid work
What is Employment?
It is the State of having paid work
It means women doing household work is not considered employed
Women doing office work is considered employed
Note:- We will study about only paid work in this chapter
What are different types of (paid) work people do

Is Factory work done in Cities or Villages?
Earlier, Factory work meant working in factories in cities
Now because of advancement of technology, Factory work also possible in villages
