How employment generation programmes are important:

1 Reduces migration from rural to urban areas

People migrate from rural to urban areas for job opportunities

But, employment generation programmes make sure that there are opportunities in rural areas

2 Creation of skills

Employment generation programmes ensure that the workers have required skills

3 Higher standard of living

When employment opportunities increase, the average income also increases
So, all this leads to higher standard of living

4 Direct relationship between Employment and Poverty Alleviation

One of the major reasons of poverty is unemployment

With the employment generation programmes we observe a rise in employment

So, because of increase in employment, poverty also reduces
