Question 10 If A (π‘š/3, 5) is the mid-point of the line segment joining the points Q (– 6, 7) and R (– 2, 3), then the value of m is (a) βˆ’12 (b) βˆ’4 (c) 12 (d) βˆ’6 Mid point of Q(βˆ’6, 7) & R(βˆ’2, 3) = ((π‘₯_1 + π‘₯_2)/2, (𝑦_1 + 𝑦_2)/2) = ((βˆ’6 + (βˆ’2))/2, (7 + 3)/2) = ((βˆ’6 βˆ’ 2)/2, 10/2) = ((βˆ’8)/2, 10/2) = (–4, 5) Comparing with A (π‘š/3, 5) –4 = π‘š/3 –4 Γ— 3 = m –12 = m m = –12 So, (a) is the correct answer
